A successful London trip for Shetland Islands Council
Message Matters client Shetland Islands Council is trying to deliver a number of outcomes for the people who live there. The three that are currently uppermost are to reduce people’s household energy bills, to make it easier to move between the islands and to ensure everyone has access to good broadband.
Each are complex issues and each will need collaboration with both the Scottish and UK governments.
That’s why Message Matters coordinated meetings with the Secretary of State for Scotland Alister Jack and the Shadow Secretary of State for Scotland Ian Murray today. Both meetings were positive and both politicians intend to visit the islands in the near future.
After the meeting with Mr Jack he said:
“I had a very interesting meeting with Emma MacDonald, Moraig Lyall and Maggie Sandison this morning to discuss their plans on short crossings between islands, reducing islanders’ energy bills and on improving broadband. I have asked my top civil servant to lead cross government talks on the best ways to take these projects forward.”
