ESPC podcast shines a light on Scotland’s housing crisis
It’s a crucial time for housing in Scotland.
The Scottish Government declared a housing emergency back in May after a number of councils expressed concerns about pressure on homelessness services, rising property prices and high levels of temporary accommodation. Social Justice Secretary Shirley-Anne Somerville said at the time that a joint approach between Holyrood, Westminster and local authorities would be needed to combat housing problems, which she called “one of the defining issues of a generation”.
At the same time, the nation needs to find the best ways to move our housing stock toward Net Zero in order to meet our climate targets.
