STV news took to the water with Chief Executive Tom Brock to discover more about what’s planned:
Tom Brock OBE, Chief Executive of the Scottish Seabird Centre, said: “Puffins are one of the world’s favourite and most distinctive animals. Scotland’s first ever Puffin Fest will celebrate their homecoming in an exciting 10 days of activities. Whether you are a family looking for a fun day out or a wildlife or photography enthusiast, Puffin Fest will have something for everyone!
“Puffin Fest will also be an opportunity for people to appreciate and understand the importance of looking after Scotland’s rich variety of seabirds and marine life – and how they can help. There will be an inspiring festival programme and we are looking forward to welcoming lots of people to North Berwick this May.”
Mike Cantlay, Chairman of VisitScotland, said: “The Scottish Seabird Centre has really pushed the boat out this year, giving this popular little seabird, and visitors, a welcome to remember! We know from the success of the Year of Natural Scotland that our national treasures are the number one reason why people visit Scotland. The inaugural Puffin Fest will be an excellent addition to a year of brilliant moments, celebrating the very best that Scotland has to offer.”
