Long campaign leads to legislation
Message Matters has run a long campaign for the League Against Cruel Sports in Scotland, working across political relations and media relations, to properly ban fox hunting in Scotland after the failure of the 20-year-old legislation to do so.
Working with the Scottish Government and individual political parties, as well as keeping the issue live in the media over many years, the League’s key objective was achieved with the publication of a draft Bill today.
Ahead of this, Robbie Marsland of the League handed over a petition to the Scottish Government’s Minister for Environment, Biodiversity and Land Reform, Màiri McAllan, gathering good media coverage as well as the desired legislative outcome.
MM will continue to assist the League as the legislation makes its way through Holyrood, and we’re also now turning our attention to doing the same in Northern Ireland.
